Is it more important to do your duty than to follow your dream?

Nowdays people say “Follow your dream”, although in the movie "Shakespeare in Love "  we see Great Britain of XVI century where it was more important to do your duty. My answer to what is more important is to make following your dream a duty of your life.
In the first part of the movie Viola de Lesseps – one of the main characters-  who always wanted to be an actor, is a great example of how person should stick to his dreams, to do everything possible to make them come true. She performed even though women were banned from the stage in those times.
In the second part she did “a daughter's duty and the queen's command” . She was engaged to a wealthy man and married him even though she loved another person. She didn’t gave up, it was just the times she lived in.
However, if she wouldn’t have left Shakespeare - the other main character – he probably wouldn’t have been inspired to write his another masterpiece “Twelfth Night” .

My opinion is that it is important to make following your dream a duty of your life. However, there are some circumstances in our life that we don’t have control over (in this story Viola de Lesseps was a victim of the times she lived in, she couldn’t change the rules). But if you have a dream, you should do something right now and keep doing every day for your dream to come true. And may be you will be the one who will inspire another masterpiece....

Talking about James Cameron

  • James Cameron has been a big fan of science-fiction since he was little. He had an insatiable sense of curiosity. The way to school and back took him about 2 hours a day and during this time he was totally absorbed in a book.I don't think he was a popular boy at school and I wouldn't like him to be a friend of mine. He was a weird boy, who was always reading science-fiction books and when not in school young James Cameron was out in the woods, hiking and collecting samples of frogs, snakes and bugs.
  • While Cameron was growing the explorations went beyond our space. There were travellings to the moon, exploring of deep oceans. These showed young Cameron that there is a huge part of world which is still unexplored. The time at which a person lives we always has a great influence on him. How does my time influence me as a person? Well, now-days I don't feel like pushing myself hard to achieve or to find something. Everything is ready today, for example in case when you're looking for information you don't need to go out in the woods, you don't even need to go to the library, everything is underneath your fingertips, you just need to "google it".
  • Drawing was a way to let his creativity out. And diving gave young Cameron an opportunity to see unknown world which was almost like an alien world for him. There are many activities in my life, but probably the most important is studying at university.Learning every day, talking to teachers - inspires me to improve myself.
  • I haven't seen the Abyss but I've seen Terminator 2.  Computer graphics which Cameron introduced there were computer generated animation. I think it was very cool in 1989 when the movie was created and even now it looks interesting, especially these liquid creatures.
  • Listening to James Cameron talking about Avatar and Titanic I've got impression that he likes more to explore. While making Titanic he even persuaded other members to have an expedition to Titanic.
  • Lessons that he learned: 1)don't limit yourself, 2)respect your team 3) curiosity has a great motive power.I support all these conclusions.

This picture was inspired by "Jungle book" by Rudyard Kipling. This is just how i imagined the wild world of jungle when i was a child and read this book. It was real fun creating a picture even though i consider myself a poor artist:)

ART

Artist: Ernst Ludwig Kirchner
Tiltle: Mountain Landscape from Clavadel
Date:1925–26
Medium: Oil on canvas
Size: 135 x 200.3 cm (53 1/8 x 78 7/8 in.)
Country of Origin: Germany
Current Location: Charlotte F. and Irving W. Rabb Gallery (Europe)
This painting is a landscape of green, blue, and purple hills. Also there are two small people. One is sitting and the other is standing. They are pictured in the bottom of the painting, but they aren’t very large. There are two purple cabins.  These aren’t too large either. The rest is trees and mountains.
The purple color gives an impression of calmness. In the sky there are white clouds.  The sky is also purple.   I think that this painting is telling a story about simple, carefree life in the mountains in cabins.  It’s the kind of lifestyle that anyone would love to have, with nature at your front door, puffy and white clouds, moving slowly in the sky.  The palette of the painting really gives off a beautiful, warm, calming feeling. This painting is really atmospheric and uplifting. I would love to spend some time in the place like the painted one.
It's interesting that Kirchner suffered a complete mental and physical collapse after being called up for service during World War I; he then settled in Switzerland, hoping the mountain air would cure mind and body. He turned to painting the high Alps, with bold colors and coarse brushwork, suggesting man at peace with nature-an ideal that contrasted sharply with his own wartime experience.

STORY

- Oh, dear, I really need to talk to you.
- Oh, sure, honey. What happend?
- You see, I really don't know how to start....
- Dear, we don't have much time. Mum is almost finished with cooking the breakfast for us.
As Richard heard these last words, he felt incredible pain in his stomach. He was already suffering from stomach cramps for 3 days.
- I... I suspect you mother....
- Hey, sweethearts, the breakfast is ready, come downstairs. Richard, it's you favourite today!- called Richard's mother-in-law from downstairs.
Richard almost cryed out, the pain was unbearable.
- I suspect you mother is trying to poison me.
- Oh, no, I knew you have never liked my mother but to suspect her of such a thing.
- Look, it all started...
- Richard, please, stop. I don't want to hear any of this.Leave me alone!
And Richard left. That day he decided to dot the i's.He went to the hospital and did all necessary exams. After everthing was checked the doctor invited Richard to talk. Richards diagnosis was gastrirtis which if not treated in the right way can cause future problems with digestion and even can cause a cancer. That evening he came back home very upset. He asked his wife and mother-in-law to forgive him for his accusations. After that they ate a lemon cake together, the laughed and talked a lot. Richard decided to change his eating habits and invited his mother-in-law to live with them.
